This is the second excerpt from the article “9 Things You Need to Know About Integrating Employee Central and SAP Payroll/Employee Central Payroll”. The first excerpt can be found at https://www.ixerv.com/9-things-part-1/.
Employee Group and Employee Subgroup Naming Conventions
Longtime on-premise SAP ERP HCM and SAP ERP Payroll users are familiar with the Employee Group (EG) and Employee Subgroup (ESG) setup. In a multi-country payroll, EGs are considered to be global data fields and ESGs are country-specific data fields.
The challenge comes because these fields in Employee Central are global data fields, but do not follow the same global data concept as in SAP ERP HCM. In some scenarios, additional work must be done to ensure that the correct EGs are assigned to the correct employees or issues may occur in replication.
Employee Group and Employee Subgroup Mapping
Since Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll are two different systems with different data elements, you could have two different sets of EGs and ESGs between Employee Central and Employee Central Payroll. In that case, you would map the different values accordingly in the Employee Central Payroll system.
